Kids

This year’s festival aims to teach children the importance of eating healthy, appreciating and trying different foods and how to use this acquired knowledge to cook basic meals, which can in turn be cooked at home with the family.

To do this, Chester Food, Drink and Lifestyle Festival has teamed up with the Academy of Culinary Arts to run a series of food workshops that will increase children’s understanding of food and cooking. With a hands-on approach the children will learn how to cook and prepare a selection of simple dishes, which will be taught by the academy’s chefs in groups.

The Academy of Culinary Arts’ is a charitable long-term project which focuses on developing an essential understanding of ‘taste’ and teaches children about the pleasures of eating, the provenance of ingredients and the processes by which raw materials are transformed into food. As well as providing a solid basis for learning life skills, it is hoped that this will encourage them to experiment for themselves.

There will be three workshops on Saturday, Sunday and Monday 3rd – 5th April, all being held in the Children’s Demo area. Workshops are completely free of charge.

The times of the demos are 11.30am, 1.30pm and 3.30pm. If you are interested in booking your child or children onto one of these workshops, please email alex@scwirrel.com and state which time you would prefer.
